It's hard to believe how quickly the end of the school year is approaching. We have just 23 days left of school, as June 12th is tentatively our last day. May is going to be a very busy month in our classroom. Starting next week, your child will be taking the NWEA test. It is extremely important that each student does their very best on the test because it should indicate the growth they have made over the past eight months. Please make sure they are well rested, and talk to them about not hurrying to get done. They should have all the time they need to complete the test.
Our classroom reading contest will end on June 2nd. I sent home the May schedule yesterday. I plan to have a small ceremony in the classroom when our contest ends to reward the top readers with their prizes. All the students will receive recognition for their hard work, and hours of reading they have done this year.
Camp Kinney will start around the 3rd week of May. I will send home information about it and a list of things you might be able to donate as the date nears. The trip to the Sand Dunes is planned for Wednesday, June 7th. I will be sending home permission slips and more details about the field trip too, once everything is finalized.
Have a great weekend. Please have your child ready for the NWEA test on Monday.
